SASSA SRD 2025 Appeal: How to Re-Apply & Resume Regular Payments

As the government does not issue welfare but SASSA, it may be argued that there are the needy persons deserving of aid under the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. The assistance amount remains R370 for 2025 till March 2026, together with the SRD Grant. Should you have been illegally refused, you should carry out an appeal for payments to be reinstated. Underneath are the processes for appeal, applying anew, and continuing with payments as standard.

SASSA SRD appeal procedure.

From the moment you receive a rejection notice, you have the right to appeal between 30 and 90 days from the application refusal decision for the SRD grant. The appeal would be heard and decided by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) under the Department of Social Development. Common grounds for rejection include: earning above R624 per month or receipt of another grant from the Government. Other grounds could be a discrepancy between the information furnished and a record on Home Affairs. You must know the grounds for rejection before going into any appeal. It usually should be told on the SASSA status check portal.

Procedure to Send an Online Appeal

You will lodge the appeal on the appeal portal on the SASSA website at https://srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals/appeal. Proceed with the steps:

  • Enter Your Details: Enter your South African identity number and the cellphone number you gave when applying.
  • Request PIN: Click on the “Send PIN” and you are going to get an SMS on your cellphone with that PIN you need to use to verify yourself.
  • Select Month: Select the exact month of appeal since each rejected month is a different appeal.
  • Give a Reason: Make sure that you clearly and concisely explain why such a rejection is wrong—such as wrongly reported income or outdated information.
  • Submit Documents: Upload any documents, e.g. bank statements, proofs of residence or copies of an ID.
  • Accept Terms: Read and accept the declaration and consent and proceed to submit the appeal.

Appeals typically take from 60 to 90 days to be concluded. After 90 days, a notification is sent through SMS indicating the result. Upon approval, payment is backdated to the date on which the appeal was submitted.

Re-Applying for the SRD Grant

Bear in mind that the appeal will be rejected if it is a case of two applications during the same calendar month. Then, the receiving applicant should seek to file for a fresh application. For a new application, go to the following site: https://srd.sassa.gov.za. Please make sure that the details were keyed in properly: ID number, telephone number, and bank account details. Multiple applications with the same ID number would be rejected by the system. Always use the SASSA Status Check tool for updates on your eligibility and expected payment dates.

Resumption of Regular Payments

Payments will run onward on support or approval of the new application date, generally after the 20th of each month or if the 20th was on the weekend, instead, on the next working day. That said, ensure that your banking information is injected into the SASSA portal to avoid any delays in your payment. From there, continue collecting payments in cash at any Post Office/retail shop as you always did or perhaps by bank deposits via the new SASSA Black card launched in February 2025 as an upgrade security-wise to the Gold card.

Future rejection incidents can be avoided by the following tips.

Make sure of discontinuation of refusal on their own personal and financial details according to the eligibility criteria (she earns less than R624 in a month and is not receiving any other government grant). Check the status of malpractice at https://srd.sassa.gov.za and try to resolve any issues. Also, contact SASSA at 0800 60 10 11 toll-free, or hire a man to visit his/her house, if in a hurry.

Next, follow the instructions to appeal for SASSA SRD 5 25; reapply yet once more and ensure timely renewal of R370 grant payments.
